The first season of Shark Tank has finally come to India with various innovative ideas of several Indian entrepreneurs. Its first episode aired on Sony Entertainment Television on December 20, 2021. Let’s take a look at the seven well-known and experienced business people that have chaired as the potential investors for start-ups and judges of the show, Shark Tank India.

Vineeta Singh:
Born in 1991, Vineeta Singh hails from Delhi, India. She is the co-founder of Fab Bags since 2012 and is also the co-founder Chief Executive Officer of the infamous SUGAR Cosmetics. Vineeta is an IITian (Madras) and has also completed her MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. Her husband is Kaushik Mukherjee and the couple has two sons named Vikrant and Kaushik.
Vineeta did her schooling at Delhi Public School, Delhi. She pursued Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras and then went on to pursue MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. She has interned as a summer student at Deutsche Bank. At the age of 23, Vineeta became the youngest postgraduate to deny Rs. 1 Crore per annum package offered to her by a renowned investment company. Today, she is amongst the top hundred mindful women of the world.
Vineeta loves traveling, playing, swimming, and cycling. She has an estimated net worth of around $8 million. She is now serving as a judge and investor in Shark Tank India- Season One.
Ashneer Grover:
Born on June 14, 1982, 39-year-old Ashneer Grover is the Founder and Managing Director of the mobile application BharatPe from Delhi. He is an IIT Delhi graduate and has also been to IIM Ahmedabad. His wife, Madhuri Jain Grover is also an entrepreneur. He has also worked for renowned organizations such as Kotak Investment Bank, PC Jeweller Ltd, Grofers, and American Express.
Ashneer has been to IIT Delhi to pursue Civil B.Tech and then to IIM Ahmedabad to pursue MBA. He is the epitome of intellect. He, with five of his batchmates, was selected as an exchange student for Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon (France). He was rewarded with €6000 as a scholarship by the Embassy of France.
His huge career started off with Kotak Financing Bank, where he was the Vice President from May 2006 to May 2013 (7 years). From May 2013 to March 2015, he was the Director of Corporate Development at American Express. He was also the Chief Financial Officer at Grofers (now Blinkit) between March 2015 and August 2017.
He was the Head of New Business at PC Jeweller Ltd between August 2017 and October 2018. Since then he has been the Founder and Managing Director at BharatPe, a mobile application for Kirana stores. The app has more than 1 Crore download till now on Playstore.
Anupam Mittal:
Born on December 23, 1971, Anupam Mittal is a 50-year-old Founder and Chief Executive Officer of People Group, who hails from Mumbai, Maharashtra. The son of Bhagwati Devi Mittal and Gopal Krishna Mittal is a very famous name in the field of entrepreneurs. His wife, Aanchal Kumar, is a famous model and the couple has a daughter. The two personalities tied the knot on July 4, 2013, in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Anupam pursued his MBA in Operations and Strategic Management from Boston University in the academic year 1994-97. He has been a producer for a couple of Bollywood movies named 99 and Flavors. He has also invested shares in an entertainment application named Moj, which is an alternative to Tik-Tok.
In 1997, Anupam found Sagaai.com, a matrimonial site, which is now known as Shaadi.com and has more than 30 million users currently. Anupam also has 2% shares in Ola Cabs, in which he had invested Rs.1 Crore. He had also been the base of Makaan.com which helps people in the real estate business in several ways. Anupam loves to travel, read and write in his leisure time and he has a net worth of around $25 million.
Ghazal Alagh:
Born on September 2, 1988, Ghazal Alagh is an Indian businesswoman, who is the co-founder of the world-famous organic beauty brand, MamaEarth. She hails from Gurgaon, Haryana. In 2011, she married Varun Alagh and they had a son in 2016, Agastya Alagh. Ghazal had a dream of becoming a businessperson since she was a child.
Ghazal pursued a degree of Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) from Punjab University. She co-founded India’s first organic, non-toxic beauty brand, MamaEarth with her husband. The brand has been running successfully, without any negative criticism. Ghazal loves traveling, singing, reading, and writing. She has an estimated net worth of $15 million.
Peyush Bansal:
Born on April 26, 1985, 36-year-old Peyush Bansal is the founding member and CEO of Lenskart. He hails from New Delhi, India. He always had a dream of becoming a businessman and with the huge support of his parents, he became a successful one. He is married and the couple has a little son.
Peyush completed his schooling at Don Bosco School and he pursued Bachelor in Engineering (Hons.) in Electrical- IT, Control and Automation from McGill University, in the academic year 2002-2006. He pursued a postgraduate degree in entrepreneurship from IIM Bangalore.
He had been awarded the British Association Medal by McGill University, Canada in 2006. He was associated with Microsoft Corporation (USA) for a year as a program manager.
He started “searchmycampus.com” for college students in January 2008, to help them in various ways for their educational life, with an initial investment of Rs. 25 lakhs. In June 2008, he registered his company as Valyoo Technologies but then shut his business down in December 2008 to focus on something bigger and also on his MBA.
In November 2010, Peyush found Lenskart.com, an online store, with Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kapahi. It offers various products like sunglasses, contact lenses, and glasses. Lenskart now has around 49 offline stores all over the country. Lenskart has generated more than Rs 100 Crore as of now.
Aman Gupta:
Born in 1982, Aman Gupta is the co-founder of one of the largest headset equipment companies in the world, boAt. Aman was born to Jyoti Kochar Gupta and Neeraj Gupta in Delhi, India, and is married to Priya Dagar in 2008. The couple has two daughters- Mia and Adaa Gupta. Aman also has a brother Anmol Gupta.
Aman completed his schooling at Delhi Public School, after which he pursued CA. He is a certified Chartered Accountant by ICAI. Aman pursued his degree in MBA from Kellogg School of Management. Once his studies were completed, Aman started working as a Sales Manager for Harman International, a giant company in the field of audio.
In 2016, Aman founded boAt with Sameer Mehta. The company was very quick to reach the 100 Crore mark. It sells headphones, earphones, speakers, travel chargers, and rugged cables. Due to its unique design and affordable price range, boAt easily became the favorite of buyers in the market. Aman has an approximate net worth of Rs 40 Crore.
Namita Thapar:
Born on September 21, 1977, 44-year-old Namita Thapar is an Indian businesswoman. She is the CEO of an Indian multinational company, Emcure Pharmaceuticals. She hails from Pune, Maharashtra. She is married to Vikas Thapar and the couple has two sons- Vir Thapar and Jai Thapar.
Namita pursued Chartered Accountancy and is a certified CA by ICAI. She then pursued MBA from Fuqua School of Management affiliated with Duke University. Namita worked with a US-based company, Guidant Corporation, for six years and then joined Emcure as the Chief Financial Officer with the aim of expanding the Indian company.
She definitely succeeded and is currently serving as its Chief Executive Officer. She is also a board member on the regional advisory board of Fuqua School of Management. She is also one of the trustees on the TiE Mumbai Board of Trustees and is also a prominent member of the Young Presidents Organisation.
She has also been a speaker at several reputed forums such as Harvard Business School, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM A), the ET Women’s Conference, FICCI, etc.
Namita has won- The Economic Times ‘40 under Forty awards; Barclays Hurun Next Gen Leader recognition; Economic Times 2017 Women Ahead List; and World Women Leadership Congress Super Achiever award. She is associated with the government of India with NITI Aayog’s ‘Women’s Entrepreneurship Platform’ and the ‘Digital Health Task Force’ and ‘Champions of Change’. Namita has an approximate net worth of Rs 600 Crores.
