Who are the founders of Petrol?
Julie Yenichek and Ryan Huyghe were the founders of PetRol. They both were entrepreneurs and dog lovers and wanted to devise a formula that would prove beneficial for dogs, nutritionally. They raised $13,795 through an IndieGoGo campaign in the first quarter of 2016.
They wanted PetRol to be sold in retail pet stores, even when the product was available on Amazon, all over the country for which they needed the support of a shark. Julie had invested $100,000 in their start-up, but the company had to be stopped because of a lack of funds and Ryan put $25,000 to resurrect the business.
Did Petrol get a deal on Shark Tank?
Julie and Ryan entered Shark Tank in episode 919. They asked for $150,000 for 20% equity of the business. They entered with two dogs who were entertaining the sharks for treats while the founders were demonstrating the product. The dogs collected PetRol as their treat and went out.
After the detailing and demonstration, the sharks were not much impressed by their sales number, which was just $16,000 in the year 2016. Rohan went out first, saying that he couldn’t see the demand for that product and Barabara went out too because she didn’t trust a business that would start, stop and restart.
Lori felt the same way as Rohan and went out and Robert was not ready to face the externalized challenges that would come their way hence, he was out too. Marl told Julie that sales can cure everything and he was out. The founders walked out of the tank without any deal in hand.
What happened to PetRol after Shark Tank?
After getting no deal in Shark Tank, PetRol was shut down because of diminished funds and the loss incurred by the company. After PetRol was closed down in January 2019, Julie became a Director of Community Relations at Lowe’s and Ryan got engaged with Able Roof and Mr Roof as an Executive Vice President.
