Cameron Sheldrake founded off-the-cob chips. Cameron was born on a family farm in Ithaca where he saw and got a passion for growing organic and healthy foods and fruits. Cameron completed his graduation in 2012 and also won a BETA challenge in his college days. Cameron always wanted to be an entrepreneur and went on the path after graduation. Cameron did a Kickstarter campaign and raised a fund of $150,000 and that’s how gradually Off- the -cob chips came onto the market and followed the vision of growing and going on a global level. He invented Off-the-cob chips to stop the wastage of sweet corn which is thrown in the bulk every year on his farm.

Cameron appeared on the show seeking an investment of $100,000 in exchange for a 15% equity. Cameron explained his business model and how they operate it. Sheldrake handed samples to the sharks immediately. Nick acknowledged him for the brand name and product packaging. Cameron also explained the difference between grain corn and sweet corn. Lori said she didn’t know the two were different.

Mr. Wonderful was shocked by hearing of the price difference between the two. Kevin O’Leary went out due to lots of challenges in the business. Mark Cuban and Daymond John went out for the same thing. Lori Greiner said she loves the taste of chips but feels like it will not be scalable in the future and is turned down. Nick said he wanted to invest in him but, still went out at the last moment. Nick suggested Cameron stick with Off-the-cob chips and he’d be successful. No offer was placed on the table and the pitch was closed.

After the show, Cameron’s business got huge fame and traffic on its website and on Amazon. After the show, Cameron went back to his farm, and still, sweet corn is grown in Australia and is the most popular crop over there.  During the pitch, Cameron asked for a valuation of $ 666,666.66. Off the cob, chips had 45 retail stores under it before the show and they gradually increased to 100 stores.

Cameron also explained that grain corn costs 30 cents and sweet corn costs $5. Off-the-cob chips cost 85 cents per unit to manufacture and are sold to retailers for $1.60 per unit. Unfortunately, as of 2021, the corn chips’ existence has ended. Cameron works on his farm and his business is off the market.
