Colin Grussing founded Root Suit in the year 2008. He also founded and owns many start-up businesses. But he gained popularity after appearing on the show Shark Tank with his company Root Suit.

He has founded 52 Businesses where he planned to start new businesses each week for a year. Before 52 Businesses, he started BeGreenMan.com and worked on it for almost 6 years. He also owns NOLA Sidecars. Colin Grussing completed his Mechanical Engineering from Yale University.

How was the Root Suit Shark Tank pitch?

Collin Grussing appeared in Shark Tank episode 420. He was seeking $100,000 in exchange for 15% equity. He came along with a group of dancers, all wearing Root Suits. The main dancer was wearing a shark head. This made the pitch more interesting.

Robert Herjavek liked the product but said that competitors will slow the company down. So he said he is not ready to invest. Lori also gave the same reason and was not ready to invest. Kevin O’Leary was not happy with the offer. He said the investment amount is big but the equity percentage is less. So he also refused to invest.

Grussing wanted to take the deal further with Daymond John but Daymond John said he will invest $100,000 but wants 50% equity. After this offer, Grussing was unsure and took too long to decide.

Seeing he is taking too long to decide, Daymond John retracted the deal. Mark Cuban also did not want to invest. Leaving Root Suit without a deal. Root Suit failed to bag any deal.

What Happened To RootSuit After Shark Tank?

Root Suits are available in many types. But the main types are solid and patterned. The suits are made from 91% Polyester and 9% Spandex. Their cost depends on the type but their usual range starts from $35 to $40. Root Suits strictly focus on e-commerce. Big-Box retailers and Brick-and-mortar stores do not sell Root Suits. Colin sold the first suit on eBay for $400.

Before Shark Tank, Root Suit was already successful and popular. Root Suit had generated sales of $525,000 and gross revenue of $140,000. They sold around 10,000 units in that year. Shaquille O’Neal wore a 5xl Root Suit which helped them gain more popularity and increased sales.
