Who are the founders of Kettle Gryp?

Daniel Sheppard and Andrew Martin are the founders of Kettle Gryp. Daniel used to have a small business in San Diego in the late 1990s. Andrew was a man of his country. He served as a military veteran for 20 years and flew choppers for marines too. When they met, they decided to come up with an idea that would save people money and build fitness.

Andrew and Daniel are themselves fitness freaks. They noted that holding a dumbbell provides grip for only one hand, so they built a prototype of Kettle Gryp, tested it, and finally launched it in the market. Unfortunately, after appearing in the shark tank, Andrew got cancer and he died a few weeks before the show aired.

Kevin O’Leary asked about the sales, to which Andrew replied that they had made sales of $3.6 million to date. Kettle Gryp had sales of $391,000 in 2018, $590,000 in 2019, and $1.9 million in 2020 and is forecasted to reach $1 million by the end of 2021 on the show. Mark Cuban asked about their presence in which they shared their need to have a strategic partner who could help them with marketing. Robert Herjavec shared that it can’t grow anymore and for that reason, he’s out.

Lori Greiner gave the same offer as Kevin’s with the justification that she can help them to build their retail market. Andrew and Daniel gave a counteroffer to Lori Greiner of $300,000 for a 15% stake in the business. Lori agrees to the counter and they get a deal.
