Leslie Haywood invented Grill Charms. Until 2006, Leslie was a homemaker with 2 daughters. But in 2007, she decided to launch Grill Charms.

Leslie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and had a Bilateral Mastectomy in the same year. Despite this, she launched her products in the market. Since then she has appeared in many television shows. She also works in many publications. She writes for many parenting and health magazines, newspaper features, and investors’ digests. She has also appeared in various radio shows and podcasts.

Did Grill Charms get a deal on Shark Tank?

Leslie Haywood went to Shark Tank seeking $50,000 for 25% equity. She said after her husband served the wrong piece of meat, she got the idea of this product. Robert Herjavek accepted the deal.

According to marketing experts, Grill Charms is not a suitable name for the product. They were also unhappy about the packaging.

After asking questions by Kevin O’Leary Leslie said she is already selling Grill Charms in 103 independent stores. Kevin further said that he liked the product but Leslie does not have a brand yet, people like the product and buy but the brand is not established yet. He offered her $50,000 for 50% equity.

Barbara Corcoran said she doesn’t want to invest and she is out. Daymond suggested that Robert Herjavek doesn’t know how to work with retailers. Daymond and Harrington decide to partner up for 50% equity and are not ready to negotiate.

O’Leary says that he will need 7% royalties and 20% equity in exchange for $50,000. Robert Herjavek offers her $50,000 for 25% equity, which is exactly what she wanted and they both end up finalizing the deal.

How Grill Charm makes money?

As mentioned by Leslie herself, before pitching her product on Shark Tank she was already selling Grill Charms. she is already selling Grill Charms in 103 independent stores. Grill Charms were available for sale on their website as well as other shopping websites like amazon.com and walmart.com. Grill Charms cost between $11.95 to $10.95.

What happened to Grill Charms after Shark Tank?

Grill Charms ceased operations in 2011 but later licensed Fox Run Brands to produce and distribute the product under the grilling solutions category.
