Dance With Me was founded by Billy Blanks Jr., the son of Billy Blanks (founder of Tae Bo), and his wife, a fitness instructor, Sharon Blanks.
When asked why he didnāt ask his father for an investment, Billy answered his father wanted him to do it on his own, revealing the strained relationship between father and son.
Billy also said that he and his wife had been homeless for a brief period prior to their appearance on Shark Tank.

Daymond pursued them and, after a heart-breaking confrontation, persuaded Billy that he would go to any length to aid them. They finally struck a deal.
