Who are the founders of Ade and Ayo?

Temidayo Adedokun is the founder of Ade and Ayo. She founded the business in 2020 and runs it with the help of her husband Abisola. She completed her degree in Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California. In 2015, from Yale Law School, she acquired a Doctor of Law (JD). She worked as an associate at Jones Hall, APLC Company in San Francisco.

When she was pregnant with her first child, Temidayo and her husband searched for clothes and nursery furniture for their child that would be influenced by her Nigerian culture. Whatever they found in the market was either too expensive or non-representative of their culture. In 2020, due to the COVID pandemic, she was fired from her law firm and decided to tap into the clothes market that was not only wanted by them but many other parents like them. She entered Shark Tank to get the help of a shark in the distribution and expansion of Ade and Ayo.

Did Ade and Ayo get a deal on the Shark Tank?

Temidayo Adedokun came on the shark tank seeking an investment of $120,000 for 10 % equity in the business. Temidayo explained his business idea and demonstrated the product. Sharks asked for various detailing about the sales, profit margin, and their journey through this.

Sharks have not seemed much interested in this business and where started moving out one by one with suggestions and reasons to move out. Barbara Corcoran was the only shark left in the tank and she gave an offer of $200,000 for 33.3% equity which means 1/3rd of the Ade and Ayo +$500,000 on a line of credit.

Temidayo accepted the deal with no counter and the pitch finally got closed with a handshake and check amount. Other sharks, didn’t find this business an investable business due to risk factors, early stage, and loads of work.

After their appearance on the show, Ade and Ayo’s sales went up to 8 times more than usual. Once the show aired, Ade and Ayo got huge fame and popular among the viewers. During the show, they came up with a valuation of $1,200,000 which was updated to $600,600.6, by Barbara Corcoran.

Gradually, after the show, Ade and Ayo have many more things to show to the world. Apart from their specialized printed clothing, they sell baskets, nursery items, and other accessories.
