Skinny mirror Founders story:

Belinda during the pitch told that she decided to create a Skinny Mirror after she saw herself in an old mirror in her home and realized she looked 5-10 pounds more than she is. She did some research and found that 50% of the mirrors have the same effect.

After doing more research she found out many women feel like they appear size or two more than they are in the mirror. So she built a Skinny Mirror with a slimming curve to give you a slimmer reflection of yourself.

In 2015, Belinda ran a successful Kickstarter campaign and raised $7,500. This helped her get the production started and raise awareness that beauty has much more to do with how you look.

Did Skinny mirror get a deal on Shark Tank?

Belinda Jasmine went on the show seeking the investment of $200,000 for 20% of the company stakes. The Skinny Mirror offers a believable sliming reflection to make you feel good about your body.

Belinda asks the sharks to come and look at the mirror themselves. Lori Greiner steps on the stage and takes a look she immediately says she liked the mirrors. Daymond steps forward as well. The mirror works with all the sharks. But Kevin states the mirror promotes falsehood. Raymond asks about the sales of the product.

Belinda states that she has sold over 350 units of the mirror making sales of $85,000. The product is sold at hotels and clothing stores so the product is not targeted towards consumers. Kevin interjects and states that the business model of the product is to sell this to clothing stores and lie to the customer into selling more clothes from the shop.

Belinda states that they had a study done in Sweden which showed that the women, who used Skinny Mirror at the store, bought 20% more clothes to which Mark said of course they did. Belinda further states that the woman believes they are 2-3 sizes larger in the mirror than they are in reality.
