Founder Story:
Founded by Alex Bayer after enjoying a friend’s coconut smoothie, Genius Juice specializes in authentic, mostly coconut-based smoothies. Proudly kosher, vegan, non-GMO, and certified organic, our products are a testament to purity and quality.
We never compromise on ingredients, excluding extra sugars, gums, flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives. Our smoothies are not just delicious; they’re also a satisfying meal replacement, thanks to the added shredded coconut that boosts fullness beyond typical coconut beverages.
Sustainability is at our core. We repurpose every part of the coconut, from its refreshing water to the leftover charcoal used in detoxifying treatments.
Since our debut in 2014, our journey has been remarkable. Our Kickstarter campaign raised over $15,000, and our appearance on “Shark Tank” showcased our original, turmeric, and coffee flavors to a wider audience.
Now, we’re at a pivotal moment. To continue our mission and growth, we need your support. Join us in fueling Genius Juice’s next chapter and enjoy the pure, natural taste of our coconut smoothies!
Did Genius Juice get a deal on Shark Tank?
The Genius Juice founder said on the “Shark Tank” episode that the smoothies use “everything but the shell” of coconuts, which are processed in less than five hours from tree to bottle.
Sharks were attracted to the idea because it was breaking new ground in the smoothie market and tasted fantastic for a low-calorie, clean-ingredient, zero-waste beverage.
The competitiveness of the beverage industry and the need for refrigeration throughout the manufacturing process, which would restrict the product’s scalability, worried the sharks the most.
However, the produce tasted so good that two sharks bit; Barbara Corcoran called it the best coconut she had ever had.
While Kevin O’Leary made the same offer for 7% ownership in the form of an interest-bearing loan, she offered $250,000 for 14% of the company.
Bayer responded with 11% of the stock, indicating that it was more interested in Corcoran’s bid. However, Mark Cuban moved quickly to become Corcoran’s partner, offering a $250,000 investment each in exchange for a 25% share.
Bayer took the offer at double the amount he had initially demanded.
