Founder Story:
The founder of the No-fly cone, Bruce Gaither, is from Colorado and has been operating a barn for horses for many years.
When working under these conditions, he was constantly harassed by flies, and this is why he decided to create his product to help him and others deal with this problem, after introducing his product to a few stores, he comes to the shark tank to look for a deal.
Did the No-fly cone get a deal on Shark Tank?
The founder walks into the tank and introduces himself to the sharks, asking for $25,000 for 15% of his Product, The No-Fly Cone. He claims that his product will help liberate people from the tyranny of flies, and explains how he came up with the idea in his barn. The sharks want to know how the product works, so he shows a no-fly cone nearby, with a lot of flies stuck inside it, which makes some sharks groan in disgust.
He explains that the flies are attracted to a natural substance, and they then get stuck to the cone with the adhesive kept over the natural substance. This product is only accessible if you have a pet, so you can guess what that is… animal poop.
The sharks want to know whether any other type of attractant can be used to attract other types of pests, but the founder doesn’t really seem to be sure, so he brings in one of his friends to help.
It’s the one and only Seth MacFarlane, creator of family guy, and voice of its many memorable characters who come to our founder’s rescue, even saying a few dialogues from the show to jog the sharks’ memory. The sharks like him, but the problem is that he doesn’t bring the right endorsement to the product, as he doesn’t have a pet, but would have surely bought the product if he did
This doesn’t really change the sharks’ opinion, and they all back out, one after the other.
What happened to THE NO-FLY CONE after Shark Tank?
Even though the sharks didn’t offer a deal to Bruce and his product, some sources say that the product had managed to snare a distributor for a short period of time, but ultimately the company must have shut down.
What is the net worth of the No-fly cone?
No-fly cone had a net worth of $175,000 at the time of the pitch and currently, they are no longer in operation.
